Who's paying attention?

Since I'm fairly certain only my best friend Molly and Patrick from Portland (thanks for all the kind words Patrick, I'm glad you are such a fan of the store) read the store blog, I'm going to do a little check by offering a 10% discount for anything in the store for the whole month of January to whoever reads this blog.

I can't breathe

photos courtesy of Refinery 29
Sneak peek at the Surface To Air Spring '10 shoe collection. I need the grey suede wedge booties in a major way. We are going to have to wait a little while for these to come out and see the light of day, which is sad because even in the winter time I'm dreaming of wearing the green wedges with some black tights...

10

10. Bad Santa. "fuck me santa, fuck me santa!" Is still one of the best lines i've heard period.
9. The Nightmare Before Christmas. Awesomely ghoulish.
8. Holiday Inn. Best holiday musical.....and yes, the hotel chain was named after this movie.
7. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Clark Griswold is the shit.
6. Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer. Zoey, Arrow and Rudolph form the best animated love trangle.
5. Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Ok, so this doesnt really qualify as a Christmas movie, since it's about two guys trying to get home in time for Thanksgiving, but it's still a holiday movie and a John Hughes classic.
4. Scrooged. Dickens would be proud.
3. Elf. Nothing Will Ferrell does is ever bad.
2. Home Alone. "One cheese pizza all to myself." I think I secretly became a vegetarian just so I could say this every time the pizza man came.
1. It's a Wonderful Life. I know this sounds really predictable (not as predictable as if I picked "A Christmas Story" which I can't stand!) seriously though this isnt just a top 10 for the holidays, this is a top ten of all time.

In case you were wondering, Gremlins came in at number 11.

"No shit. You guys got Coke here?"

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS...

One Vintage zuriel top, Norwegian Wood leggings, Stella McCartney blazer,
Topshop dress, Forever 21 booties, Made Her Think ring, YSL ring and gold chain belt.
Christmas is just a few days away and i'm sitting here on my computer wishing I could afford to buy myself all these goodies, put them under the Christmas tree and tell my husband Santa brought them for me. Those shoes will be mine before the New Year and I'm already picturing all the outfits I'm going to center around the gold YSL chain belt.

Untamed Youth

From Her raw performance in kids, Jean in American Psycho, to my favorite performance as Lana in Boys don't Cry...Chloe Sevigny can do no wrong.

TEAMO shirts

I always thought people who wore celebrity shirts were lame, but these shirts are so awesome that I am now converted. These designs are sketches made by Roberto Sanchez Baez, who is 1/2 of the Mexican design team duo TEAMO. As I mentioned in one of my first posts, TEAMO is the reason I started my store. Flipping through a magzine one day, I discovered their line and was blown away. I cut the page out and put it up on my "inspiration board" and three months later I had my store, TEAMO, and a new friend in Roberto.

For $75 pick between an Olsen twins, Kate
Moss or Vincent Gallo Tee. These shirts are very limited and are only sold in a handful of stores, so don't miss out.

Spirocreations

Getting Spirocreations to be a part of La Dama was such an amazing honor for us. I cyber stalked them to let them know how inspirational their
designs are to me until they returned my messages and to my total shock let me know that they loved La Dama! When they agreed to be part of the store I literally jumped up and down for at least 2 full minutes.

Spirocreations is a husband and wife team from Canada who love to create beautiful things with their hands and are also interested in living close to the earth and exploring old world handcraft trade. Everything from Spirocrations is created by hand, so every item is one of a kind. It's amazing how much hard work goes into making these items, they even whip-stitch everything using leather instead of thread.

These shoes are custom made for every individual meaning you take all your appropriate measurements, send them in and in 3 weeks time you will have a gorgeous one of a kind creation molded to fit only you.

Check out this crazy amazing logo designed for Spirocreations by their friend Amy Middleton and do look at her other work here
Hard at work.

I am obsessed with these lace up ballet flat hightops

These scrunch boots will look so sick with tights come winter.

true statement pieces.

New winter collection coming soon and also
stay tuned for leather corset belts that will be added to the store probably by the time you are done reading this.

Oh so NEET

The September issue of N.E.E.T is out and on point! I'm not just saying this because La Dama has the best spread in the magazine designed by my awesome artist friend Danielle.

Full Circle

Lpost has quickly become one of my favorite blogs over the past couple of months. It's a blog with a culmination of photography, a bit of writing and just the right splash of fashion. I wrote her a little note telling her how much I liked her blog and she went on to post the sweetest blog post about La Dama

Lizbeth, the writer behind Lpost is also starting her own online magazine where she will be the fashion editor. The magazine is called DNR (Driven and Ready) and it's focused on entrepreneurs and just over people driven and ready creating their own path and career. La Dama will be featured in the fashion section in the near future, so keep a look out for the progress of DNR here.

Please, please, please let me get what I want...

Let me just say right away that I am not a huge Morrissey fan (here comes the hate mail) I like the Smiths and a few Morrissey songs here and there, but that doesn't mean I should buy a t-shirt, become a vegetarian, and put up a Smiths poster like everyone else trying to be cool. With that being said I can still appreciate great art and this song is just that. This is one of the best covers I have ever heard.

For Real This Time

I know I posted the opening of the store a few weeks ago and I apologize for the confusion. I was going to open with just a few designs in stock, instead I decided to wait until the store was amazingly curated. All the awesomeness you see at La Dama will be available SEPTEMBER 1st. In the mean time take a look around the boutique and start writing down your wish list.

LOUBOUTIN, VALENTINO...THE LIST IS ENDLESS. I AM CONVINCED THAT MY LIFE WILL BE JUST A LITTLE BIT BETTER IF I COULD OWN JUST ONE PAIR OF THESE SHOES.
