Playground Love

Aaron Ruff from Digby & Iona makes the most beautiful jewelry. His imagination takes us to the most fun and unexpected places. Right now thanks to the Stump ring, I've been having some serious school crush nostalgia memories. Since the time I discovered boys at one time or another I always scribbled my name and my crushes name together. I carved my love in notebooks, desks and of course trees. This behavior carries on into adulthood because I have yet to enter a restroom in a bar that isn't covered in declarations of love.

La Dama

Loteria is a Mexican version of Bingo that uses images from a deck of cards. Instead of calling out numbers, we call out images. Every card/image has a name like "La Sirena" or "La Dama". Each player is given a board with a randomly created 4 x 4 grid of images and names. One person will randomly pick a card from the deck and call out the image. The players then mark off the corresponding image on their board (we played with beans...no joke) The first person to fill their board calls out "LOTERIA!"

I grew up playing this game and if I go to my moms house on any given Saturday there is a 87% chance that there is a serious game going on. My favorite card was always "La Dama" I love the way she looked. The red heels were always the best part. I asked my mom what "La Dama" meant and she told me it meant "Lady" She said it's what a lady should always look like when she wants to be presentable. That stuck with me forever and come to think of it now I blame her for my F me red pumps phase back in the day. I always knew that this would be the name of my store. It's just too good a name.
